Axis Shocks
Custom Axis Shocks are now part of the world famous Penske conglomerate of automotive companies. Custom has been in business for more than fifteen years supplying high performance shock products to both professional and amateur racers and to the serious off road enthusiast as well. Unlike many of today’s leading producers of performance shocks – who evolved into the shock end of the automotive business — Custom started out developing tailor made shock absorbers for professional chassis builders and aftermarket suppliers.

As their products gained market acceptance and their popularity grew, one of the big boys in the industry – Penske Racing Shocks – took notice. Penske was a higher end manufacturer and the quality and durability of Custom’s products led Penske to gobble up a controlling interest in Custom back in 1998. It was a marriage made in heaven, as the technology of the two companies complemented each other so well that Penske took the final plunge and bought Custom out completely in 2003. Today Custom has moved its operations from Lodi, California to integrate with the design, engineering, and manufacturing facilities of Penske Racking Shocks in Reading, Pennsylvania. Custom shocks are 100% American designed and manufactured.
Custom makes suspension products for all off-road vehicles – ATVs and UTVs, Snowmobiles, and Motocross Racing Cycles. For Motocross, Custom offers a coil over spring design and high performance forks. All other applications feature both a coil over shock and an independent shock.
The UTV line includes coil over spring shocks with both a piggyback and a remote style reservoir. Although many feel the piggyback design offers superior performance by minimizing flow restriction between the two chambers, the remote design allows the reservoir to be mounted in any location, making adjustments in tight spaces much easier. Both the coil over’s and their UTV Pro-Air Shocks are lightweight and adjustable.
For ATVs, Custom offers a remote reservoir coil over shock for the rear and a choice of an independent Pro Air, or a piggyback or remote reservoir coil over shock for the front of your vehicle. These choices greatly increase your performance adjustment options and the titanium construction of the springs in the coil over designs makes these shocks much lighter than many competitive models.
Finally, for Snowmobile lovers, Custom gives you the same level of choice as is available with other applications – no skimping when it comes to shocks for Snowmobile enthusiasts. They have piggyback and remote reservoir coil over styles for front and mid placement as well as the Pro Air independent shocks. For the rear they offer a coil over design that can be retro-fitted to existing shocks and is fully adjustable. If you need some accessories for your off road “toys”, they have a line of those as well.
